Day 55 - Happy New Year!!

55/365

The last day of 2009. Wow. :)

It's really been kind of an amazing year for me. There has been bad, of course, but that just seems to make the good so so much better. I am blessed and grateful that I'm ending the year with my parents doing better, knowing that my nephew is safe and taken care of, and with many good friends that I simply cannot imagine my life without now.

I have goals for the new year, but I'll probably save those to talk about tomorrow.

Today...this is my New Year's wish for my friends and readers of this blog. I wish you a new year of peace. I wish that whatever hurts you, or upsets you, you can learn to find a way to if not fix the issue, then to at least come to peace with it and let it go. I wish a year of laughter, of friendship, of success. I wish you a year of bright dreams, creativity, and goals realized. I wish you a year of beauty and love.

Please please be careful if you're going out tonight. I just can't imagine my 2010 without you guys in it. :)

I am starting out 2010 with a great gift. Adric sent me... the M Linden bear!!

My M Linden Bear!

AND? Veronica Kanya made a video from the party last night! Awesome!

Also? This is the 2 year anniversary of my blog. :) 1193 posts written, 1113 [including this one] posted, and about a billion memories made all because I decided to start writing one night. :)

My favorite party of 2009!!

I can't even begin to describe how much fun tonight's New Year's Eve Eve party was!!! So...here's some pics!

Me, right before the party started.

New Year's Eve Eve - Right before the party

When did all these people get here?!

New Year's Eve Eve - What a crowd!

Uh, hello? Could I be any luckier dancing near Fricker Fraker, Shiryu Musashi, and Gahum Riptide, three of the most awesome men on the grid? I think not!

New Year's Eve Eve - Could I be luckier?

Also, could I be more up on Gahum? LMAO! That's Sehra's hand poking out there, btw.

New Year's Eve Eve - Hot guys and me!

Eva & Nikki looking super hot. I thought Eva had come in with a longer dress. I guess she lost it. Oh! Like on the Buffy movie when Pike stepped on her dress and ripped half of it off!

New Year's Eve Eve - Eva & Nikki

Fricker, dancing with Gorgeous Yongho and Wilma Delgado. Wilma made her way straight to the bar!

New Year's Eve Eve - Gogo, Fricker & Wilma

Everyone crowding around the big sign. Oh hiiiii, Shelly & Dazz on top!

New Year's Eve Eve - Hi guys!

By the end of the party, which had gone on an hour longer than I thought it would, I was looking rough. And I lost my shoes.

New Year's Eve Eve - I lost my shoes

Did you ever wonder what I was like in my early 20s? Here ya go.

New Year's Eve Eve - I didn't make it inside

There are many more pictures, including some of the new year kisses under the sign that I caught, over here in this Flickr set. I have more pics, actually, but I need to sort through and crop and all that so I'll probably get to those tomorrow.

I think my caffeine and party energy has FINALLY worn off, so I'm going to go crash into bed. If I'm up before noon, it will be a MIRACLE!

Day 53 - It was a good day :)

It was one of those days where there were just lots of photo opportunities. :)

Hanging with Sophia and Prad on Soph's new platform. I don't know WHAT Prad's wearing. But he's a tall drink of water when he's in heels.

Crazies <3

Prad is tall in heels

Later, Soph and I went bouncing around the island on our cupcakes again. Emerald, thank you so much for giving those to us. Seriously, we have so much fun on them! We stumbled into Aisuru's house and made butt prints on her custards.

Mmmmm...custards

Man On The Grid, Fricker Fraker [say his name, it's fun!], invited me and the group out to listen to Kyle Beltran's performance. Kyle does lounge/jazz type music on the piano. Most awesome!!

Dancing at Kyle Beltran's show

You can see Eva's hands and eye poking out from behind her dance partner. :)

All in all...it was a good day. :)

Three Little Things

I've seen people doing Samara Barzane's "3 Little Things" challenge, and as I'm always up for a good blog challenge, I wanted to do it too. We're supposed to choose 3 things in our inventory that we couldn't part with.

The first for me was easy.

3 Things - Miriel's Open Ocean

My "Open Ocean" eyes by Miriel Enfield. I purchased these in January 2008, and they became "my" eyes. The color is striking and I simply feel more like myself when I wear them. I've gotten a lot of compliments on them too. Although I have many many different eyes, these are the ones I always come home to. I was deeply saddened when Miriel decided to close up shop and I purchased several other colors of her eyes, including a backup copy of these. [I always chose the transfer version, just in case I felt the need to share eyes.] But Open Ocean are my favorite favorite eyes in SL, no one I've seen yet has come close to this bright, beautiful blue color.

The second thing is more personal.

3 Things - Birthday poem 2008

In 2008, my friends got together and threw me a surprise birthday party. First surprise party of my life, actually. How they managed to keep it a secret, I will never never know. My friend Bon wrote a birthday poem for me and used the names of every one of the Ch'Know members in it. The poem is quite long, much longer than I'm showing in the picture, but it's my poem, and I'm being selfish and not showing it entirely. It was at that moment, when I was teleported in and surrounded by my friends, that I realized that there is a lot more right with me than there is wrong, otherwise these people wouldn't care about me so much. Whenever I'm feeling blue or unwanted, I open up my birthday folder and look at the pics and the poem again, and I feel better.

Now the third thing, I'm cheating on. I'm using an entire folder. :-p

3 Things - Linden bears folder

My Linden bears!! As most people know, I'm a huge teddy bear fan and collect bears from all over SL. But my Linden bear folder is priceless to me. Some of the bears I asked for myself, and some of them Sophia got by jumping into a lot of Lindens' IM boxes. LOL! I even IMed M Linden once to ask for his bear, but I guess his messages capped, because he never got back to me. I have others that I haven't moved into the folder yet, but I still want more.

And there you have it, my 3 little things. :)

Day 52 - Procrastination

52/365

I'm supposed to be writing an article, getting ready for a photoshoot, making invites for Wednesday's party, setting up the party room, cleaning the litter box, and going to buy groceries because tomorrow it's supposed to snow again...

...and I'm sitting on a bunny IMing about how I look young for my age.

This is my life. I love it. :)

Day 51 & party this week!

51/365

I'm starting to set up...or at least think about how I want to set up...for the New Year's Eve Eve party that's going to be held this Wednesday night. More details tomorrow. :)

Day 49 - Christmas Day

Christmas Day

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas!

Mine was a bit better than I expected it would be. I received so many things today in SL, from people I never never expected anything from. It was really nice. :)

One of the funnier gifts I got was a cupcake I could ride, courtesy of Emerald.

Ooh cupcake!

Ok, the face I did myself, although it would be totally funny if the cupcake did that. LOL! And you can't tell, but I'm wearing weather panties with a snowflake on them, also courtesy of Em.

One gift I got that was a little different than most things I've gotten this year was a pen and a book to write in. Thanks Ros!

Dear Diary...

"Dear Diary, today I logged in and guess what? I was missing my face!"

Umm...

And I got out for a little bit to go hear my plurk buddy Rob DJ.

Dancing

Me, dancing near Ewan and GoSpeed.

Of course, now it's only 11:30 here, I'm WIDE awake, and...I might actually sort inventory if I don't find something better to do.

/me runs off to try to find SOMETHING better to do!

Day 48 & Christmas Wishes

Merry Christmas, everyone! :)

I had my last visit with Santa on Christmas Eve.

Last Santa visit

We've had many talks over the past month, Santa and me. But on Christmas Eve, I whispered to him what I really wanted. What I wish for is that he bring all of my loved ones every wonderful thing their hearts desire. What I hope for is health, luck, love, and happiness for them for the new year. And then I made one special wish for myself, but that one remains with me. :)

I spent some time with GoSpeed tonight, just sitting in my home and chatting. It was nice to spend some time with her. :) Then I headed out for a Christmas Eve dance, and by the time I got back...

He's gone!

Santa was gone.

In my physical world, I'm having a white Christmas for the first time in my life. :) It's pretty amazing, but unfortunately because of it, my parents want me to stay home tomorrow because they want me to stay safe. I'm not an exceptionally awesome driver even on dry land, but trust me, in this area, people can't drive in snow/ice at all. I'm bummed out, though, because you know...it's Christmas. Instead I'll cook my big meal that I had planned on making for them and we'll just eat it here.

I did get my Christmas gift early, though. A new graphics card and a much bigger hard drive! I am in love with the new card. My SL has never looked as good and it runs so so smoothly.

Oh, and just to have a non-Christmas 365 day blog project pic...here I am in the Free Speerit group gift. It's the not-yet-released Maya skin, which is free under the tree at the store. There are 4 skins, 2 makeups in 2 skin tones. I'm wearing Glamour in pale. I think it's pretty. :)

Day 47 & Holiday Blues

47/365

Emerald gave me a monkey for Christmas. The thing jumps around the house. How awesome is THAT?! LOL!! Thanks, Em!!

So, I admit it, I'm not in the Christmas spirit. I mean, I guess I am a bit. I've enjoyed decorating in SL and I'll have fun baking 2 cakes tonight in the physical world. But I don't know... I was saying yesterday that it just seems everyone else is way more excited for the holiday than I am. I guess part of me feels like I should be doing more? Like...giving more gifts and taking a holiday picture of myself to pass around like my friends are doing. And it probably doesn't help that every time I do get a little excited, someone brings up all the poor starving children or the homeless or people who can't be with their loved ones for the holiday. It's like you aren't allowed to just be happy, you have to always always think of the less fortunate.

I don't know. I guess some people simply get blue during the holidays. I'm sure it will pass.

I've been given a new and bigger hard drive for Christmas [not that I asked for it, or needed it] and I'm supposed to be copying files over to it. That's how we roll around here...practical as usual. lol

At least I have a monkey.

Day 45 & Getting Gifts

45/365

Me in my dressing room again. I really need to clean up at some point.

I've been a little overwhelmed with all the gifts I've received in the past few days. In my physical world, gifts are not something that are given a lot. Usually I'm just given money and told to buy what I want. Which is, of course, not a bad thing really. I wouldn't dare complain.

But...I am a little overwhelmed with the gifts that have been dropped on me lately. I have such incredibly thoughtful friends and many of them know my tastes well. I've also received a lot of fun stuff that people have created - poses, furniture, sweaters. And Christmas "cards" with my friends' pictures on them! Many many of those have landed in my inventory.

And today, a real present landed in my physical world from the lovely Sophia! She knows my tastes so well. It was exceptionally awesome because I think it maybe the only physical world gift I get this Christmas that isn't just "Here's some cash." LMAO

I'll admit, though. As happy as I am to get the Christmas "cards" from people, I almost always get that little moment of emo when it's a couples photo. I should have just grabbed one of my single guy friends and forced him into posing with me. LOL Oh well. :)

I have much to unpack and sort through tonight! I better get to work.

Day 44

I actually did this pic last night, but it was after midnight. So... that'll work. :)

Just messing around in PS

World Holidays 2009 Exhibit!

I headed over tonight to the opening of the World Holidays 2009 photo exhibit, which I was also a happy participant of. You can read all the details and who won what on the Musashi-Do blog. :) I was just excited to see the photos!

Photo exhibit

There were just so many good ones. In my neck of the woods, we don't normally have a "white Christmas" with snow and all of that. In fact, I don't think I can remember a time that it's ever snowed here for Christmas. Usually our big winter stuff happens in January or February and it just ices up and no one can leave the house because no one knows how to drive in the stuff. So for me, getting to see how other people do up Christmas was really really fun!

And of course, seeing my own pics in the exhibit was pretty darn cool, too.

My pics!

You have to actually go to the exhibit if you want to see the rest of my pics. :) Personally, I thought the others were better, but probably because they were just different.

You can still participate in it with photos if you want! There's something out there that tells you how. :)

Of course, me being me, I got distracted by this pizza snowman while I was out there.

Oh hi, pizzaman!

How does he keep the pizza from getting cold?!

Day 43 & Stepping Down

43/365

That's me trying to decide if I want to have a drink tonight. I'm not much of a drinker, but I might have something tonight. Maybe.

Unless something else comes up, I officially have no more scheduled events for the rest of the year. That is so weird! Right now I'm thinking it's really nice. But give me a couple of days and I'll be itching to do something.

Something that is happening at the beginning of the year... I'm officially stepping down as a Fug writer. It's something I've been thinking of for...well, months. It's not that I can't handle it, or that I can't handle all the people who [usually hypocritically] slam me for doing it. It's more that after doing it for a year, I think I'm just done. I will always look for beauty in Second Life. I will always love beautiful clothing and proportionate shapes, and dislike bling and heel clicks and that AO with the ass sticking out. But I'm done. I will be putting out the call for new writers at the beginning of the year [there are several who have told me they'd love to do it], and I'll remain on as the blog admin and maybe do a few tutorials here and there, but as far as writing about fashion disasters... I'm done. I had a BLAST working on the blog. Especially during the summer! But all good things come to an end eventually, and so has my time writing about other peoples' fashion disasters.

I'm a little tired and cold right now, so I think I'm going to wrap myself up in a big blanket and settle down here to IM some people and bother them.

Oh, but since I haven't in a long time, here's a song that's been in my head the past few nights. It's old. More than 70 years old. But it's always been one of my favorites.

Starting Point Holiday Party!

Thank you for the comments and all the IMs regarding my last post. It means the world to me. I really didn't write it to gain attention or anything like that. I just have always dealt with things by writing. Well, when I'm not shutting down and acting extra enthusiastic to hide. lol

Today I am DJing a special open house holiday party for Starting Point! Don't know what Starting Point is? It's a new resident dormitory that Tymmerie Thorne and Jerremy Darwin opened up about a year ago to give new residents a place to live and help getting started in SL. Each person who lives there lives rent free and in a small private apartment for 8 weeks. I've been one of the helpers since it started, and I've made some of my friends in SL through Starting Point. Most of the residents who live there end up loving SL and sticking around, and also become members of the help team! It's not a forever place, but it most definitely gets new residents started. I've always enjoyed helping out new people when they want help, so it's been a great experience for me.

Anyway, the party begins at 12 noon SLT and I'll be playing holiday music. :) I'd love for you all to come out and hang out with us, and meet some of the new residents. They've been decorating their places, so of course they're eager to show them off. :)

Day 42 - Draining

Ever have one of those weeks [or 2 or 3 of them] where things are so not good that you just don't talk about it because you just can't? And you keep it bottled up because it hurts and keeping it together is the only thing you've got? But then when things settle down and get a little better, you feel drained?

I'm having that kind of night.

42/365

I haven't talked about it, to anyone, but my mom's been super sick the past couple of weeks. She wouldn't let me come over to help her because she was scared I'd catch it too. I called her a few days ago and she was barely coherent and talking about how she saw my sister & nephew [we haven't seen them in 2 years], and to say I was freaked out would be an understatement. So to cope, I threw myself into SL. It was the only time I felt like I could breathe. I joked too much, I talked too much, and I added to my inventory as if it were my job. I didn't tell anyone in my life - ANYONE - what was going on because I knew I would lose it. And I could have talked. People have always let me know that if I need to talk, they're there. But this is how I manage.

Yesterday my mom said she was feeling a little better. Today I went over and made sure she and my dad ate and had food and it felt good to make sure that I could get that done. I felt better than I have in weeks. I felt like I could breathe.

But now I feel mostly drained. Not fully, but like if I just keep talking, the rest will come out and maybe I'll be able to sleep tonight without waking up every hour to check my phone. It's not easy being the only child of elderly parents. It's not easy when the entire family calls you Angel and say that the reason you were born was to take care of your parents in their old age. Because honestly? If that's the reason you have to be alive...what happens later when they're gone?

Blah. Too many deep thoughts and too much RL stuff for an SL blog. I just needed to ... drain.

Finally! The blogger party pics!

I just realized it's been almost a week and I haven't shared pics from the blogger meet-up! We had over 30 people in attendance at the peak, and I had my setting turned down pretty low so I wouldn't crash, I did manage to catch a few pics! :) If you don't see yourself, I'm sorry! I really tried.

And because it's just not a party until someone loses their clothes... after almost everyone had gone home, Prad got down to his underpants. Thanks, Prad.

After the party. >.<

It was an amazing party!! I had so much fun and I'd be happy to host again in 2010!

Day 41

It's early on Day 41 [just a couple of hours old!] but I thought I might be busy when I get up. This is the shirt I'm wearing for the fashion show tomorrow. I'm blogging the full set once they're ready, but for a few hours, I am happily wearing something that is just mine. :)

Day 40 & Busy Bee

I've been a busy bee in SL lately. Which, you know, is probably a good thing. But checking my calendar, Friday is the last day I have anything officially scheduled this month. I'm sure something will pop up. :)

So what's happening Friday? The Musashi-Do fashion show!

Show invite

I'm walking in this one and DJing it. I know, he's a total slavedriver. :-p I'm actually really starting to like doing runway shows. I was quite happy as just a live or print model, but runway is just fun. Plus the models for SilverStar are AWESOME and they keep me laughing the whole time we're doing shows.

I kinda think I should wear this hair for the show. Think I can get away with it?

Oh maybe?

That's hair from Tukinowaguma. Darn that Emerald for talking about it one day. LOL! The hair over there is just so NUTS. I love it.

Speaking of Emerald, she passed me something last night because she wanted me to look gangsta with her and Heidi.

I have some crazy friends. LOL

40/365

That's going to be my photo for Day 40. :)

My friend Gwendolyn asked me to DJ an ice skating party over on her sim, Hallelujah Azul, tonight at 6pm. It should be nice. I'll be doing jazz, soft pop, and holiday tunes. That's always fun for me, to play all the pretty love songs that I adore. :) You guys should come out, there will be gifts and Santa!

I better get back to doing stuff.
