Day 86 - I'm united

After hunting in about 80 different shops in SL, and after my friends attempted to uh, help me, I finally decided on something for over the fireplace in my house.

86-365

I won't lie. I got the idea from something similar I saw at Deco*licious, and actually ended up spending $25L more making this than if I'd just bought that one, but that one was not QUITE right, and this one is. Of course, I'll always have my eyes open for something better.

So most of you have heard that Linden Lab bought Avatars United, which is like a Facebook for virtual worlds. I won't get into my thoughts on it much. I've been signed up over there since 2008 and hadn't logged into it since 2008. But since everyone is signing up for an account, I've been accepting friendship & group requests. I don't know what all the Lindens have in store for it, maybe not even anything in the end, but it's nice to have one more way to meet new people. If you have an account, please feel free to unite with me over there. I accept pretty much all requests.

Well, unless I don't like you.

Day 85 - I didn't think I was short!

For some reason over the past couple of weeks, I've felt like I've been getting a lot shorter. I was standing next to Sophia the other day and I could have motorboated her. Today I was standing next to Gauge and look how SMALL I appear next to him!

85-365

Am I shrinking and don't realize it? Or do heels really give me THAT much height? I've been wearing flats a lot more recently. I haven't changed my shape at all. Maybe I need milk or something. LOL

Btw, that's Gauge's new mainstore location. His store is called +blacklisted+ and he sells some cool shirts for men & women, and some lingerie for women. I'll be blogging his shirts soon, when I get out of this slump. :)

I've been continuing working on my yard for the house the past couple of days. It's slow going because I'm so picky about most things. I want it all JUST right...or at least as close as it can be to just right. I would almost pay someone at this point to just fix the yard for me!

But speaking of that, it's back to work. I WILL get this done this weekend so I can stop thinking about it!

Day 84 - Did she just say that?

84-365

I've been in a bit of a blogging slump lately. I'm sitting on a bunch of reviews that need to be done, and I have thoughts in my head, but nothing seems to want to come out.

Oh my god, I'm blogging constipated!

Anyway, that fence I'm on was a gift from the Glitterati group today. I love it, and it's only 2 prims. If you're not in the SoM, sucks to be you, I guess?

It's cold & miserable here today, so I'm going to go warm up and play a game.

Thursday, January 28, 2010

Day 83 - Getting dirt under my nails

I asked on plurk this evening where to go to get some trees. My yard is starting to take shape and I am in need of trees to fill in spots. One place I headed out to was New Trails. I didn't see anything I really wanted, but I ended up climbing up on a rock because it was just so so pretty there.

83-365

Last night I was working on my yard and I decided I needed to move what I was making to the backyard, because of the wonderful view. But to do that, I needed to move my massive house, make sure all the furniture and decorations moved right, terraform more...on and on. And quite frankly...I'm not good at any of this stuff. Plus the ideas in my head of what I want don't always transfer into SL, because my building skills are not that great and because I can't seem to find everything that I want in SL. It gets quite frustrating! But, I am lucky that I have so many friends who know a lot more than I do about where to shop for home/garden supplies, and they've been a huge help so far.

*sighs* Back to the grindstone.

Day 82 - I'm not throwing it away

I've been playing with my yard. It's not terraformed very well. LOL

82-365

But I'm working on it. I kinda know what i want, but finding it is the big thing. Same for the inside of the house. I saw something I liked earlier and I thought "Well, you know, I can just BUILD that." And it's true, I could. But the problem is finding the next part because while I could build it, I couldn't build it for less prims. And honestly? How hard is it to find a simple, low prim, and inexpensive votive candle with a nice flame and that isn't a light source?

Pretty damn hard.

You'd think in my inventory I'd have something, but for some reason, all the candles I own are no copy/no modify, and that is NOT going to work for me. I have some that I would love to use but because they're no modify, I cannot pull them from their stands and holders. Ridiculous.

Speaking of inventory, my friend Emerald has a massive one. So massive, in fact, that she ended up on New World Notes for it.

I understand how it happened. Sales, hunts, regular shopping, gifts, fatpacks, it all adds up. If I allowed myself to open every single box and kept every hair color or makeup or shoe color in a fatpack, I could easily surpass Emerald's number within a week. The problem is, there's no really GOOD way, if you're an avid shopper, to keep your number from soaring unless you're really really good at organizing, boxing up, deleting, or having multiple alts to shop with. Yes, I can transfer things I'm not using if it's possible to do so to Piper or Aidan [my 2 alts], but so few things are transferable anymore.

Some people in the comments were saying that having a huge inventory number is the fault of the user and we should just throw things away. Well, they can suck it, because some things I will NOT throw away. And why should we have to throw things that we paid for away just because there's not a way to place them in a storage or something of the sort?

As I mentioned when I was boxing up my ETD hair, these things hold memories for me. I have items in my inventory that were given to me by people I will never see again and I cannot get rid of them. I have things that I bought from stores that no longer exist and I cannot get rid of them. I do throw things out regularly that I am not using or that I do not want, but some things...I cannot and I will not.

If you keep a low number of items in your inventory, how do you do it? Do you just not shop? Do you not get attached to certain items? Are you really that good at putting things in boxes?

Maybe I'm just too sentimental. But if it comes down to being too sentimental and keeping things or not caring and throwing things out because nothing means anything to you, I choose my kind.

Day 81 - The day they tried to help

So first, my actual 365 day project picture. Spring came to the island early last night, and as such, my happy bunny hill came back. I don't usually let the default SL day run because I like it bright, but today I was just sitting up there and the moon came out.

81-365

Now in other news.... Because spring came back, I needed to update my house. Over my fireplace, I had a great wreath that Aisuru had given to her group and I loved it. But it was for Christmas, so I had to take it down. But that left the problem...what to put above the fireplace? Believe it or not, within 12 hours, 2 men suggested a moose head.

In what world do I look like the kind of girl who would have a MOOSE head above the fireplace?

That led to my plurk friends attempting to "help" me.

Marnix tried to be helpful.

More help.

Sighs.

Thank you Marnix, Aldwyn, Luna, Sarra, Fricker, Caillaigh, and Clementine [Clem's gift is not shown. There was no way I could show it and remain family friendly!] for your gifts. It means quite a bit that you think so much of my taste.

/me walks off muttering to herself.

Day 80 - I could talk forever, but I refuse to spam.

80-365

We're switching over to grass this coming weekend on the island. Yay, no more snow!! After running all over trying to find a decent spring grass texture, the most awesome Aisuru created grass for us. I briefly placed it down on the sim earlier and it's so so bright and pretty! I can't wait to get rid of this snow.

Bleh, I just had a whole big diatribe written about how I choose what to blog on my fashion blog, but it doesn't matter. I blog what I want in my own time, unless specifically asked to blog a limited time offer or sale. If I'm blogging the same thing as 80 other people on the same day, so be it. I usually am not quite aware of it because I'm not a huge fashion feed reader. I tend to just stick with the bloggers I enjoy so I don't have to see someone sporting bling or an ugly shape or something like that. I'm sure there are many others the same way. I'll glance through on occasion if I feel like shopping, but that's about it. I tend to rely on my friends and Plurk to tell me where to shop. lol

Some people have asked me how my time in Dragon Age went. Well, I really really enjoyed the game! It made me laugh, it made me cry [Oh my god, Alistair breaking up with my character? Heartbreaking!], and I was very proud when I won. And if the damn thing hadn't crashed out at the very end, I would have loved to have seen the ending. LOL But I was very upset that I couldn't become queen just because I wasn't of noble birth and I was an elf. There are elven princesses, I swear!! So as soon as I won that round, I restarted with a new character.

Dragon Age, new character

That's actually not the most flattering picture. She's quite pretty normally. This is my human noble of the warrior class. Royal, pretty, and can kick your ass. How sexy is that? It's still fun, because the storyline is a bit different with her. So even though I'm going through the same places, it's slightly different.

Ugh, remind me not to look at plurk while I'm blogging. I start coming up with too much stuff I want to bitch about.

Sunday, January 24, 2010

Day 79 - It's the memories!

I did something today I never thought I'd do.

I boxed up all of my ETD hair. All 85 folders, boxed up.

79-365

It was funny because as I was carefully placing my beloved babies in boxes, all kinds of memories came rushing back. I met this person while wearing this hair! I went to this place and wore that hair! Oh, remember when all of us went when this hair was released?

Then it hit me. My inventory isn't large because I simply buy too much. It's large because almost everything in it reminds me of something and I can't get rid of it! My inventory is jam packed full of memories!

I loved ETD once. I still love some of the styles and think the brunette shades are still gorgeous. But I so rarely wear it anymore. I cannot tell you the last time any of them were on my head. But to throw them away... I cannot. It would be like throwing away memories.

So like I do with my physical world memories, I boxed them up. I stored them away. And at some point, I may bring one or two out again and wear a hair and think, "Remember when..."

Saturday, January 23, 2010

Day 78 - It's not cracka-lackin'

I get gifts from my friends from time to time. Usually I'm pretty happy with them because my friends have good taste & know my style, or they're funny gifts that make me laugh.

Guess which category these pants fall into?

78-365

This ass crack sponsored by Emerald Wynn.

Seriously, what is the point? We were discussing these pants on plurk and someone mentioned that for a photoshoot, they could be useful. Well sure, I could see making my butt and hips really wide and pretending like I couldn't pull my pants up. That would be really funny, actually!

The problem is, most people buying these pants [that aren't doing it for comedic purpose] are not going to do it for funny photoshoots. They're going to slap on some boob baring crop top or a pair of pasties and a load of tattoos and prance around using that AO that bends a bitch over for inspection and thinking they are "so smexy."

I fucking hate the word "smexy."

Look, there's a time and a place for everything. Really, there is. Wear your spiky, blinding, look-like-a-2006-noob bling to make people laugh. Put glow on your hair and run around laughing like crazy. Wear your pasties and dance in the privacy of your home with your significant other. But for Phil's sake, if you're out in public and I can see your hole and you're about 2 seconds away from your cooter actually being on display...

Uh, no.

Do yourself and everyone else a favor and buy some decent pants.\

Well, unless you want to come to our Ass-cracka-palooza party. Then it's all crack, all the time.

Day 77 - Show tonight

I'm tired today.

77-365

I also feel like I might possibly be coming down with something, which sucks on so many levels. Either that or I need to just calm the hell down. lol

Tonight is the VR Style fashion show, showing off the designs of SySy's, RFyre and Rebel Hope. I'm walking in the show and I'd love you all to come. It's at 6pm SLT at the SilverStar stage. Who knows, maybe someone's pants won't rez again! LOL [Oh man, I hope it's not me.]

Thursday, January 21, 2010

Day 76 - Hmm

76-365

That's almost the picture that will be appearing with my article for next month's VR Style magazine. I just played with it more for the blogpost.

I'm down today. My dad is sick again and again he is not wanting to go to the doctor. Luckily after getting off the cigarettes and being so so sick last month, my mom is stronger and she told me that she can take care of him. It just makes me really tense. Like...extremely tense.

I have to go to show rehearsal now.

Day 75 - A little SL, a little RL, and a purse challenge

My friend Velvet sent me a panda. After the evening I've had, coming home to someone warm & cuddly was nice.

75-365

I've been complaining for a while about a pain in my left shoulder blade. A couple of weeks ago I started having some pain in my lower neck/upper back area. I have tried sitting differently, sleeping differently, and wondered if maybe it was my pillows or my mattress. The other night I was just in pain! I just couldn't understand what the problem was.

Yesterday I went out for a bit to hit up Target and Bath & Body Works. As I was walking into Target, the pain started again. Then I realized something.

My purse is too damn heavy.

*sighs*

Apparently my SL inventory hoarding issue is a RL issue as well. If I had to carry my inventory with me in SL, my avatar would collapse under the weight. Today I dumped out my purse.

"WTF Mom?!"

That's my cat, Holly, yelling "WTF MOM?!"

A few months ago, we did a big "What's in your purse?" challenge. Sophia told me we should do it again. So dump out your purses/bags/backpacks and take a pic. Show us what you're carrying!

This is a better picture.

The reason I have back problems

If you go to my Flickr page, you can see all the notes of what I'm carrying. But to sum it up - I carry too much crap with me, including THIRTEEN lipsticks, balms, and glosses.

I'll tell you this much. If we had to carry our inventories with us in SL, I think I'd be a Linden bear away from having to push a shopping cart and having full plastic bags tied to my waist.

But at least my lips would be decorated.

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Day 74 - I'm socially sad.

74-365

I don't actually have a laptop in the physical world. I have a whirring, loud, pretty powerful desktop. But I kinda want a laptop. Not just for SL, but just to have.

I've been in a strange mood the past couple of nights. I want to be with people, but when I get the chance to hang out with someone, I kind of clam up. So I guess maybe I need to be around people and have something to do OR I need to be around people who can keep a conversation going. Not sure which!

Tomorrow and Thursday I have show rehearsals for Friday's fashion show. That should be fun. I spent some time tonight making outfits for quick changes. I'm wearing Rebel Hope and RFyre in the show. I need to go through my poses and find some that show off the outfits better.

This blog post? Really dull. LOL Someone come up with a good blog challenge, please. :)

Monday, January 18, 2010

Day 73 - Busy

I spent a lot of time in the physical world today. Shopping and lunch with my mom, grocery shopping, playing outside with my kitten. I'm utterly exhausted, so as much as I wanted to hang out with people in SL tonight, I ended up just setting up a trivia ball and hanging out in one of my skyboxes.

73-365

Trivia nights, coming soon!

Sunday, January 17, 2010

Day 72 - Looking for joy

I finished up the Winter Choice thing today. Hello, laggy stores! Even with my fab new video card, I was lagging out badly. But I got some things I wanted, including the Midnight Girls Talk set from new-to-me store +mocha+. I wanted to stick around there and shop, but I'll just have to go back later. Maybe the lag won't be so bad after the choice thing is over. Does lag in a sim "collect" even when people aren't in the sim? Hmmm...

72-365

Now if it looks like I'm kind of down in the picture, I kind of am. Something has been bugging me the past few days.

Is it not ok to just be happy anymore?

See, everytime I see someone excited on their plurk lines or blogs, someone else steps in and dumps cold water on it. You can't be excited about this, because Linden Lab sucks. You can't be excited about that, because the person responsible for it is evil. You can't have a party and be happy about it, because there was an earthquake/hurricane/tsunami/fire and so that party MUST be for charity. Heck, I can't even watch old sitcoms at night without Sarah McLachlan and her sad songs telling me a dog will die if I don't give up some money.

It's not that I'm unsympathetic. I regularly do things for charity. My cat came from the shelter. I buy extra pet food & litter and take it to the shelter. I give blood. I'd guess there are a lot of us who do many good deeds every day and never never once talk about them because it's just part of our lives.

But can we just be happy for a little bit? Can we be excited for our friends because something good happened to them without kicking them to get them back down? Can we dance and listen to music for an hour without someone telling us we need to remember all the bad stuff going on in the world?

I'm going to make it a point today to spend an hour just being happy, for my friends and for myself. I want an hour to just goof off and have fun. I don't think even Sarah McLachlan would disagree that a little joy is never a bad thing.

Day 70 - Daydream Believer

You once thought of me
As a white knight on a steed.
Now you know how happy I can be.
Oh, and our good times start and end
Without dollar one to spend.
But how much, baby, do we really need.

Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.

70-365

No real point to the song, just the pose on the chair is called Daydream, and it put the song in my head. :)

Day 69 - Tired

Day 69. Hehe. Shut up.

Anyway, I haven't been doing much in SL. I had a great night last night talking to 2 of my favorite ladies and one of my favorite men [who was being a pretty girl last night] and today...nothing much. I don't know, I've been exceptionally exhausted today. Spring cannot come quick enough. Since the only thing I did today was do a post for the fashion blog, here's a snapshot I caught but didn't find a place for on that blog. I thought it came out pretty. But I'm working on half brain power today, so it could suck. lol

Wow, a post with 69 AND suck in it. I can't wait to check Google Analytics later.

69-365

Day 68 - Still stuck in the game

Oh...day 3 of not changing and mostly being in Dragon Age. Don't judge me. Send me a full outfit so I don't have to think! LOL! Kidding, kidding, kidding. I haven't really even been shopping, but I did run out to La Petite Morte for the 69L Hump Day Happiness today today pick up this skybox. I love it.

68-365

And I haven't quite figured out how to take screenshots in the game [my Prt Scn button doesn't work or something] but sometimes it takes screenshots for me. This is my little elf girl. The guy behind her is the one she's going to eventually have sex with, but the last time she asked, he said no. Even outside of SL, I get no play.

Another Dragon Age shot

Maybe he would have liked her better as a blonde.

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Day 67 - Haven't even changed clothes

I've been almost completely engrossed in the game today. So much so, in fact, that I haven't changed my clothes in SL for 24 hours. Unheard of! But I did get to spend some time with Sophia today.

67-365

I'm going back to the game now. :)

Monday, January 11, 2010

Day 66 - Not much going on

This is me, sitting on Sophia's porch, wondering when she's going to log in. Are you sad for me?

66-365

So Shiryu kept telling me what a great game Dragon Age: Origins was. [I think his heart broke a little when I told him I'd recently purchased Super Mario Bros for the Wii.] I decided to go pick up the game today. I am not a gamer. Not at all. The last game I was really into was The Sims, and as we all know, it's not like there was a huge point to The Sims. This game is...challenging for me. Yes yes, I'm playing it on easy level. A monkey is probably better at the game than I am at the moment. But it's interesting! Here's a not so good pic of my character. She's cute and small and has a tattoo on her face.

Dragon Age

If I could change anything on her, I'd fix her hands. Oh my god, everyone in this game has like, enormous crazy big hands! It really really distracts me at times.

I'm freezing, so I think I'm off to make hot chocolate before thinking about playing the game some more.

Sunday, January 10, 2010

Day 65 - Piano Man

This would be totally sexy... if not for the fact that that's my male alt playing the piano. LOL!

65-365

Out of all the men in my life, he may be the most romantic. Of course, being that I tell him exactly what to do all the time, I guess he would be, huh? :-p

I love that piano, though. It makes the perfect addition to my living room.

I'll never be a social butterfly

I've been having a big ol' case of winter blues lately, so I've been a hermit in my skybox a lot the past couple of weeks. But yesterday I actually went out to a few things, so because this blog has been terribly dull lately, let me show you pics. :)

I first made my way to Mexico to take pictures of a dress. Then I realized later that I was wearing the dress wrong. *sighs* Well, not WRONG, but there was one extra thing I should have been wearing, so I'll have to go back later to reshoot the pics. But while I was there, I had an audience.

I have an audience

My Spanish is minimal at best when writing, so I didn't have much to say to them.

Later, I headed over to the Mensweek Fashion Show, because it was the Musashi-Do show and I wanted to show my support. It was laggy, as most fashion shows are, and the funniest thing was that one chair was shooting people out of the sim. At least 3 of us ended up like this!

The rogue chair did it.

Lag is really hell when you're doing a show because a lot of the time, you get that crazy "I'ma just keep walking" thing. C'mon, we've all been there. It's like sim crossing, but not since you're not crossing a sim. lol

Lag...bad for runway!

And of course, the sim crashed during the show. [Hey, that's a sign of a good show, right?!] But that was ok because at least when we came back, things were a little better and faster to rez. And if I'd missed seeing guys this cute in these hot suits...I think I would have cried.

Mmmmm....suits....

Seriously...put a suit on a guy and I get weak.

Speaking of cute guys, here is Rob and Shiryu sitting for the show. I had to wait forever to get this pic. Rob's pants just did NOT want to rez!

Rob & Shiryu

Oh, and here's a picture of this guy who kept telling me inappropriate blowjob stories during the show. I dunno who he is. :-p

Just some guy

Later that night [much much later, it was probably near 3am for me], Mr. New World Notes Hamlet IMed me and asked if I wanted to come dance at a small party for RMB City, because it was the one year anniversary party, and the inauguration of a new mayor for the city. Then he really clinched it by saying he needed a celebrity type there. Oh Hamlet, how you stroke my ego. LOL! I think I wasn't so much a celebrity type as I was someone who was simply online at the time. But either way, I wasn't doing anything else, so off I went.

The new mayor

Hamlet & me

RMB City is actually a pretty cool, if crazy looking, kind of place. If you like exploring, I would highly suggest it, just because it evolves over time so there's usually something new to see.

RMB City

RMB City

I'll never be a social butterfly that goes to a bunch of events in a day, but once in a while, I can kind of fake it. :)

Day 64/365

Ack, almost didn't make it today.

I noticed earlier today that when I wear my MiaMai lashes, there's a heart on my head. Too cute. :)

Day 63 - All that and a bag of bitch

I'm in one of those "Don't ask for my opinion, because I'll give it and you're not going to like it" moods today. So I'm hiding out in my skybox.

63-365

This is my favorite skybox at the moment. It's across from my photo area, so I just hop back and forth when necessary. It's my little quiet place away from everything. I believe only one other person has ever spent any time in there with me, that's how guarded I am with my skybox. lol

So did you guys see the Vain "awards" nominees? Excuse me while I gag a bit. Some of them I do agree with, but most... gah, are you kidding me? Styles of Edo? Puh-LEEZE. The Jazzologist? Who in the world is that? Models hardly anyone has heard of, stores where only a bare few people bother shopping at anymore because, I don't know, it's not 2007 anymore... Everyone's been joking about these on Plurk today. I don't know who exactly was doing the nominations, but good grief. Of course, if I ever actually paid attention to the Vain group anymore, I might have seen that there was some voting to be going on, but I close pretty much every notice & group chat pretty quick these days. I'm not even sure why I'm still in the group.

So last night the homes tour continued and we all headed over to Heidi's and Black's home. Oh my god, their house makes mine feel so completely lonely and dull. LOL!

Viz'tin Heidi & Black

Their home is very steampunkish, and just....very cool! They have lots of great little details here and there and it was really fun getting to visit them with other friends. :)

They have a TIME MACHINE, for pete's sake!
The time machine!

Fricker had to stop and gaze at himself, but Heidi wouldn't let him use her lipstick.
Fricker is sooooo pretty!

This is where the magic happens!
This is where the magic happens

Any time I get together with my buddies, it's a good time. :) Although I will admit, visiting their home made me a little sad that I live alone. lol Tomorrow the tour continues as we invade visit Asthenia's home!

I'm feeling bratty as hell, so I really better close this down before I start talking about something else.

Day 62 - Viz'tin

It's freezing in my area. I hate it. LOL But if I had a really pretty purple coat, I'd probably enjoy the cold weather more.

62-365

Btw, you can own that coat on January 8th by going to Musashi-Do for the SL Daily Deal. It's only available in purple on the 8th, so be sure you get it then!! It's also almost half price from the regular December Warmth coats, and only 250 will be available. You know you want it!

So the best ideas from my friends always come out of a random comment. My group is doing home tours. It's not that we can't just go over to each others' houses whenever. But it's more like... well, this might be a old southern thing, I don't know, but ladies used to have "At Home" days. People would come over during a certain time and hang out and stuff. That's kind of what these remind me of, except that basically we're just coming over to snoop in houses and chat.

Last night, we went over to check out Eva Bonner's place. Her house is so pretty, this picture really doesn't do it justice.

At Eva's home tour

She was sweet enough to let those of us who couldn't make it during her home hours come over afterwards.

Tonight, we'll be heading over to Heidi's & Black's home.

Black, his kitty, and Heidi

Whether he'll be holding a kitty or not, I have no idea.

I haven't yet signed up to show off my house. It's still semi-decorated for Christmas, so I need to finish getting things back to normal.

Oh, speaking of home tours, it's almost time to go viz'tin!
